Radiology Specialist Birsen Dokgöz stated that intervention with early diagnosis is life-saving for most patients, and emphasized the importance of ultrasound in early diagnosis, especially in rapidly spreading cancer types such as breast and colon cancer.
Dr. Birsen Dokgöz said that the importance of early diagnosis with ultrasound is of great importance. He said that ultrasound is a diagnostic method that allows early intervention to diseases in modern medicine. Dokgöz said, “Any part of the body can be examined in detail with ultrasound, which enables the acquisition of images through sound waves. Especially people over the age of 40 should have cholesterol, blood pressure and sugar tests every year, but ultrasound examination in a full-fledged clinic is often life-saving. ”
DEATHS CAN BE PREVENTED
Saying that the situations that are likely to affect vascular health can be determined by various ultrasonographic methods, death due to sudden cardiovascular diseases can be prevented. Dokgöz said, “Many of the cancer types progress without causing any complaints in the body, and the symptoms appear towards the final stages. In the images obtained from the ultrasound, it is investigated whether there is a disease factor, and in the side tests, measures are taken against possible diseases ”.
WHAT ARE THE ULTRASON EXAMINATIONS USED IN EARLY DIAGNOSIS?
Stating that over time, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and hypertension can be eliminated with early diagnosis, Dokgöz listed the ultrasound examinations by saying, “Again, a variety of cancer types are used at the beginning stage and various ultrasound tests are used to prevent them.
Breast ultrasound: In this examination, breast tissue, milk ducts and breast cells are examined. The purpose of performing ultrasound is to investigate the cause of pain or mass in the breast and chest in women over 40 years old. In general, when performing mammography, breast ultrasound is performed for exact detection.
Pelvic ultrasound: Bladder, uterus and ovaries in women, bladder and prostate in men are examined. This examination allows a detailed examination of myoma, chocolate cysts, ovarian cysts in women, urinary tract inflammation, ureter lower end stones and bladder stones in men. After the examination, precautions are taken against uterine cancer, cervical cancer, prostate and bladder cancers and related diseases.
Renal ultrasound: A detailed kidney scan is performed with this examination. The person is laid on his back and a gel is applied to the abdomen. At this stage, the kidneys are examined with an ultrasound probe. The kidney canals, kidney and bladder region are examined. (https://www.whitestallion.com/)
Thyroid ultrasound: Applied to detect abnormalities in the thyroid gland, goiter or nodules. Imaging is done by placing the ultrasound probe in the neck area. Thyroid glands in the neck area are examined.
Hip ultrasound: Congenital hip dislocation is examined. The presence of ‘Developmental Hip Dysplasia (DDH)’ is checked with this ultrasound performed in infants between 2-6 months.
