What is Audiometry?

It is the name given to the tests used in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing impairment, in which the patient’s hearing functions are measured. In other words, all tests related to ear and hearing are called audiometry.

Why are audiometric tests applied?

• Hearing loss,
• Ear infections,
• General or hereditary diseases,
• Various injuries,
• As it may occur for reasons such as old age,

It may also be caused by a lack of function in one or more of the central nervous system, in the outer nervous system, the tympanum (middle ear), the inner ear, hearing nerves. However, hearing problems are easily solved with the help of technology.

Audiometric Examination

In the face of a problem mentioned above, early diagnosis is vital in the diagnosis and treatment process. Therefore, it is necessary to be meticulous about a thorough examination and a good treatment. On the other hand, hearing losses with unknown cause are also common cases. The most important way to prevent progressive or sudden hearing loss is to undergo regular audiometry tests.

Audiometric Tests

After hearing loss, its cause, degree of damage, and type of hearing loss are diagnosed, determining the appropriate treatment will both facilitate treatment and prevent increased hearing loss.

How is this test done?

Pure sound audiometry: These are tests that help determine the minimum and maximum volume that the ears can hear. It travels interactively between the patient and the audiometer, the audiometer sends sound waves to the patient in a sound-isolated environment and even presses the button in his hand if he hears these sounds. It gives information about the sound process that starts from the auricle and ends in the brain with airway measurements. In bone path measurements, a process starting from the ear is checked.
