Advantages of Normal Birth
Advantages of Normal Birth

As is well known, pregnancy is a natural, physiological process. Childbirth is a natural event expected after the completion of the normal gestation period.

When we examine the functioning of the woman's body and reproductive system, we see that vaginal birth is a normal birth. For example, a woman has a birth canal (comprised of the vagina and surrounding muscles) made of soft tissue suitable for the baby to pass through, and a second birth canal located between the pelvic bones is considered a natural path.

Furthermore, after the baby matures in the uterus, uterine contractions, known as labor pains, begin. This results in the cervix opening, and the baby is pushed into this birth canal. Once the baby descends into the birth canal, the mother begins to push, and the baby is expelled, thus completing labor. Normally, unless there are any obstacles, this natural process and the presence of a birth canal in the woman indicate that vaginal birth is the normal path. This also quickly establishes the emotional bond between mother and baby.

The expectant mother feels a step closer to motherhood with each stage of labor pain. The oxytocin hormone released during the step-by-step process of labor prepares the breast tissue for milk production. The gradual labor process facilitates adaptation and development in the mother's genitals.

The vaginal canal and perineal area will stretch and relax with each contraction as the baby advances. The baby's contraction and relaxation in the birth canal helps clear the baby's airways of secretions during labor. This helps the newborn's respiratory function adapt more easily to life. Oxytocin, the hormone that causes the uterus to contract and contract rapidly after birth, is released more effectively during vaginal labor. This results in less postpartum hemorrhage.

Mothers can maintain close contact with their baby and begin breastfeeding immediately after labor. Because postpartum recovery and healing are much quicker, they can spend more time with their baby and themselves, and more easily integrate into life.

In conclusion, a woman's fertility is a process of renewal in itself. It is a process of starting and continuing life anew. While this renewal is often perceived as the organic rejuvenation of the mother's body, it stems entirely from learning to see the world through her baby's eyes and witnessing the newborn's development and growth.

The mother's body is cleansed and rejuvenated with birth. However, this cleansing and rejuvenation is entirely a self-expression of the baby, eager to welcome a new life. Every newborn represents a new hope, a new beginning. However, as with every natural event, when problems arise during the natural course of this event, if a vaginal birth is not possible or if the pregnancy requires urgent termination, a cesarean section is required. At Özel Mersin Sistem Surgical Medical Center, we support normal birth and invite all prospective parents to the 3rd Birth Preparation Course at our institution's Parenting School.
