He was born in 1974 in Kadirli, Osmaniye. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Kadirli. He graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1997. In the same year, he began his residency in Orthopedics and Traumatology at Ege University Faculty of Medicine. In 2000, he transferred to Mersin University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, where he completed his specialization in 2005.

Throughout his education and professional career, he worked at Ege University Faculty of Medicine Orthopedics and Traumatology Department, İzmir Hand and Microsurgery Hospital, İzmir Mevki Military Hospital, Cappadocia Private Versa Hospital, and Tarsus Medical Park Hospital. He also served as a team physician for sports clubs such as Tarsus İdman Yurdu Football Club, Belediye Women’s Basketball Team, Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, and Mersin University Women’s Basketball Team.

Since 2014, Ali Yılmaz, M.D., has been practicing as a Specialist in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Private Mersin Sistem Surgical Medical Center.
