Nutrition and Active Life
To live, one must eat. Taking pleasure in this necessity is one of the main qualities that make us human — and also a prerequisite for healthy nutrition. Achieving this is not difficult; it depends entirely on our own choices. By paying attention to a few small yet important details while eating, you can take the first step toward a healthy life through proper nutrition.
We offer you the opportunity to follow a personalized diet and weight-loss plan.

Our Weight-Loss Program
Obesity is now recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a disease with complications that must be treated.
In our program, we first collect detailed information about the individual’s eating habits, then perform body analysis and necessary tests. Based on these results, a personalized plan is created.
Obesity and Active Life Unit
In today’s society, lack of knowledge about physical activity, failure to understand its importance for health, and the adoption of increasingly sedentary lifestyles have become major factors behind the rise of chronic diseases such as obesity, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes, and osteoporosis.
Most people perceive physical activity as synonymous with “sports.” However, physical activity includes all bodily movements that use muscles and joints to expend energy, increase heart and breathing rate, and result in fatigue at various intensities. This means that not only sports but also exercises, games, and daily activities count as physical activity.
Regular physical activity benefits health at every age.
It plays a crucial role in the healthy growth and development of children, helps overcome bad habits, supports socialization, protects adults from chronic diseases or aids in their treatment, and helps the elderly maintain an active lifestyle — thereby improving overall quality of life.
Causes of Obesity
Besides overeating and poor nutrition, lack of physical activity is the main cause.
Genetic factors are significant — if both parents are obese, their child has an 80% chance of being obese; if both parents are of normal weight, this rate drops to 15%.
Genetic, environmental, sociocultural, physiological, biochemical, and psychological factors all contribute to obesity. About 30% of obese patients also suffer from psychological disorders such as depression. Obesity increases the risk of breast, endometrial, and gallbladder cancers.
Health Problems Caused by Obesity
Insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease, stroke, sleep apnea, fatty liver, asthma, osteoarthritis, pregnancy complications, menstrual irregularities, excessive hair growth, reduced fertility, certain types of cancer, psychological issues, social incompatibility, skin infections — especially fungal infections.
Obesity and Exercise
Exercise is the most effective method.
Patients are encouraged to adopt a more active lifestyle — taking stairs instead of elevators, parking farther from work, etc.
A daily 30-minute moderate-intensity activity is sufficient.
Examples include:
- 1 hour volleyball
- 45 minutes football
- 35 minutes brisk walking
- 30 minutes cycling
- 20 minutes swimming
- 15 minutes jump rope
- 15 minutes stair climbing
At Mersin Sistem Surgical Medical Center’s Obesity and Active Life Clinic, we offer Power Plate, localized slimming, cavitation, radiofrequency, lymphatic drainage, and fitness treatments.
Obesity Treatment
In addition to reducing energy intake, it is essential to increase energy expenditure.
A multidisciplinary approach is required for effective treatment.
For this purpose, we established the Obesity and Active Life Clinic at Mersin Sistem Surgical Medical Center.
Each patient is evaluated individually, with customized diet plans, increased physical activity, and hormonal assessments.
Our goal is to achieve an initial 10% weight reduction. Once this is accomplished, we continue with programs targeting 1 kg weight loss per week over 6-month periods.
Applications at the Obesity and Active Life Unit
Venus Legacy
(Non-Surgical Aesthetic Treatment)
The most advanced non-surgical aesthetic platform for the body, face, and neck.
What is Venus Legacy?
Venus Legacy is a non-invasive body-contouring device that uses vacuum-assisted radiofrequency technology.
What does it do?
- Localized slimming
- Cellulite reduction
- Skin tightening
Technology Behind Venus Legacy
- Multi-Polar RF: Patented multi-head radiofrequency technology that provides faster and more effective heating compared to bipolar or tri-polar devices.
- Pulsed Magnetic Fields: Used in medicine for years, this technology stimulates intercellular communication for regeneration and repair.
- VariPulse Vacuum: Enhances deep heat penetration and lymphatic drainage while stimulating circulation without damaging tissue — unlike conventional vacuums.
How Does Venus Legacy Work?
The system liquefies fat inside fat cells and transfers it to the lymphatic system painlessly and safely.
It reduces the size of fat cells without damaging them and stimulates elastin and collagen production to tighten sagging skin.
Vacuum heads are used for fatty areas, while radiofrequency heads are used for tightening after weight loss.
Effective Treatment Areas
Abdomen – Legs – Arms – Back – Face – Neck
Mechanism
Combining Multi-Polar RF and Magnetic Pulse (MP)² technologies with the new VariPulse™ system, Venus Legacy stimulates elastin and collagen production in the skin, reactivating aging, less elastic tissue naturally.
It improves elasticity, tightens and firms the skin, and smooths wrinkles.
Through Magnetic Pulse (MP)² technology, it also triggers fibroblast growth factor (FGF-2) secretion, which repairs and rejuvenates skin tissue.
Facial Benefits
- Softens fine lines
- Tightens and firms the skin
- Lifts the chin area
- Reduces eye-area wrinkles and dark circles
- Revitalizes dull skin
- Gives a fresher, more rested appearance
Recommended Sessions
4–8 sessions are typically required to observe 2–8 cm of reduction.
Lymphatic Drainage (Pressotherapy)
A method that uses pressure massage devices to accelerate lymphatic and venous circulation.
It helps drain interstitial fluid, eliminate edema, and is used in cellulite treatment, body shaping, and firming.
The treatment involves an intensive massage starting from the toes and continuing up to the waist and even the neck, stimulating lymphatic flow.
G5 Massage
G5 massage uses mechanical vibrations to eliminate excess fat and edema.
It removes lactic acid buildup, reduces fatigue, increases blood flow, and promotes fat burning.
It also reduces wrinkles and tightens the skin.
The technique can be applied to the whole body but is most commonly used on the hips, legs, and abdomen for cellulite reduction.
