Weight Problem
Until today, there have been numerous diets specially named and marketed for weight loss. However, so-called “miracle diets” or “lose 5 kg in 1 week” type diets are not scientifically approved by the WHO and can actually pose serious threats to human health.
Incorrect Weight Loss Programs:
- Non-personalized diets (especially those found in newspapers, magazines, etc., which do not consider individual characteristics),
- “Magical” shock diets that promise rapid weight loss in a short period of time,
- Very low-calorie diets that are not adjusted to individual needs and cannot be monitored under supervision,
- Diets that fail to teach adequate and balanced eating habits but instead promote the use of special products,
- Monotype diets based on a single food (e.g., cabbage diet, grapefruit diet),
- Diets accompanied by weight-loss medications with numerous side effects (often marketed as “herbal” to appear harmless),
- Use of diuretic (water-loss inducing) medications or saunas that cause temporary water loss instead of real fat loss.
Health Problems Caused by Incorrect Weight Loss:
- Gallstones
- Kidney stones
- Gout
- Hemorrhoids accompanied by constipation
- Amenorrhea (absence of menstruation)
- Hair loss
- Anemia
- Heart rhythm disorders
- Dark circles under the eyes
- Dehydration due to excessive water loss
- Mouth ulcers
- Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
- Skin sagging
- Osteoporosis (bone loss)
Just 1 Extra Kilogram:
- Puts an additional 7 kg of strain on your knees and 4 kg on your waist.
- Raises your blood pressure by approximately 1.3 to 1.5 mmHg.
- For every 1 kg of excess fat, 20 mg more cholesterol is synthesized in the body.
- If you walk for 1 hour, you burn approximately as many calories as your body weight — around 70–80 calories. It should be remembered that a single slice of bread (about 25 g) contains about 70–80 calories. In other words, walking for 1 hour burns the energy equivalent of one slice of bread.
- We should remember that we need to walk briskly for about 19 minutes to burn one medium apple, and 79 minutes to burn one slice of cake.
