Nomophobia

As technology advances, so too do the needs of people. The prevalence of "nomophobia," a term used to describe the fear of being without a phone or the anxiety of not being able to access social media and virtual environments, is increasing.

People with this condition may feel uneasy, anxious, and irritable when their phone is not with them, when the battery runs out, or when they can't connect to the internet. In essence, this condition is a type of "Anxiety Disorder."

If a person engages in excessive mental preoccupation with this condition, gradually increases the amount of daily use, avoids internet-free environments (a behavior known as avoidance), and experiences significant anxiety and withdrawal symptoms when they can't access the internet, addiction is likely underway.

A "Technology Detox" is generally recommended for individuals exhibiting symptoms of nomophobia. However, in cases where daily life is significantly impacted by this condition, treatment for an "Anxiety Disorder" and "Addiction" treatment protocols may be necessary.
